I was checking the Fox&Hound out as a Possible destination for Thanksgiving dinner away from Home. I came alone and chose the bar so not to waste a table. The Bartender was very busy as a party was taking up a large portion of the menu. I was in a Red Wine mood as the weather was at the point of Chilling the body up. I was pleasantly surprised that the owners get the concept of offering Awesome wines by the glass. The selection of both Reds and Whites were at the top of any fine list. I enjoyed 3 different reds that I am still thinking about. One was better than the other. I chose the salmon with mashed and an unusual Slaw. Now Slaw is not on the top of my sides list but I have learned that great Chefs pair foods better than the average diner. The slaw was so good I will be going back and pay extra for this culinary masterpiece. The Salmon was done perfect and was an actual portion. Not the “Dainty” portion some restaurants offer. Overall the experience was a “Ten Star” review . The only negative was that when Dining alone the Multiple TV’s may keep me enjoying dessert and another glass of wine. It was A weekend and not one Football game was on the multiple Televisions? The Food and wine will bring me back for more. Put Fox and Hound on your list. The Bartender got a 50% tip as She was alone on a busy weekend and I appreciate the Tipped employees who work hard for their money.
Avoid this restaurant. Prices are too high for the food quality, and a CC convenience fee is charged. These tactics were widespread after COVID, but it’s almost four years later and these issues are no longer excusable.
Ambiance was great and service started out good. However our server read off a long list of sold out menu items- multiple appetizers, entrees, even some bottled beer was out. When we asked why, we were told “it has been a busy weekend.” We ate on a Saturday evening at 6pm, so there is clearly something else going on. The menu is as large as The Cheesecake Factory, perhaps pare it back?
Unfortunately, the food we did order was poorly prepared. We were a party of four and none of us finished our entrees.
The chicken parm was burnt, and the other entrees were swimming with sauces which tasted store bought. Two pasta dishes had shrimp buried in the sauces (why does the lobster ravioli have whole shrimp?) and the tails were left on. While this may be normal in some restaurants, it was cumbersome to remove the tails when they are covered in sauce.
We offered feedback on these items to our server, and were met with an abrasive tone. We needed to politely ask three times for her to just bring feedback to the chef and stop arguing with us.
The host is clearly the owner and clearly checked out, and it shows in both FOH and the kitchen. We were confused why the place is busy, but won’t be back ourselves. There are much better places in Quincy and surrounding with better food, more polite service, and that avoid nickel and diming their customers.
The restaurant stood out with how pretty the building was inside and out. There is a large parking lot and it's conveniently located. Although the food was good, I expected it to be better.
Did not taste too much garlic on the garlic bread because it was grilled, the marinara sauce complemented it well. The Fox BBQ Platter is light on the quantity of meat. The steak and sausage were cooked well and the chicken was a little dry. I have never seen such a large portion of cole slaw.
The ambience is nice and I would try another dish next time. Please note, there is a 3% fee when using your credit card, we paid cash, it's not a big deal.
Fox & Hound is not just a great restaurant… need to consider them for on-site catering!
Our company has an Open House event every year for our valued customers featuring a vendor product showcase and party. This year I was asked to look into the catering.
Not being from the area, I contacted my trusted concierge team at American Express for some suggestions. The Fox & Hound restaurant in Quincy came up as one of the recommendations. I made some calls and paused for a moment questioning “a restaurant” and immediately called, as my American Express team has not disappointed!
I was connected with Barbara Ray and Steve Cooper, who responded immediately and asked if they could visit, understand our vision and out of the gate they actively participated in generating ideas to make our event the best it could be! We went back-and-forth several times and selected a great menu that fit our theme. I felt like we were partners, and confident we made the right catering choice.
This past week it was SHOWTIME! Our theme was Prohibition and we turned our office into the “SWAG Lounge” (we're publicly traded on NASDAQ as SWAG). 250 guests enjoyed themselves listening to BT ALC Band, a 17 piece orchestra who helped set the stage for an amazing evening. Our guests enjoyed playing Blackjack, Texas Hold’em, Roulette and Craps and exchanged their tickets for a chance to win one of our highly coveted prizes!
In addition, as you can see by the menu, we had a raw bar, charcuterie table. hot and cold station and desserts from Fratelli’s. The Fox & Hound totally nailed the food and service! I also appreciate the initiative that Barbara and Steve took, outfitting their staff to fit our theme. Amanda, Alex, Brenna, Rachel, Dana, Jared, Riley, Carlos, Chris and Dennis were there providing optimum service to our guests. Everyone raved about the event, noting at every bite that the food was delicious!
What amazed me was how Barbara and Steve could take the Fox & Hound restaurant and bring it to life in an off-site environment, it could not have been any better! Thank you ALL!
If you’re looking for a tavern feel with a nice bar then this is the place for you. Although my friend and I didn’t like the entrees too much, we did enjoy our time here and the appetizer.
Entrees: Scallop Risotto - the scallops were over cooked and the risotto was very dry. Chicken Satay - the chicken was a bit on the drier side and the gravy was underwhelming.
Appetizer: Cauliflower - this one slaps! It was the best thing we had.
Overall, it was a clean place which I appreciated and our waitress was kind although it was taking a long time to be attended to despite the lack of customers there.
I think this place is probably best to go to in the evening for appetizers and drinks!
Great meal! Went here with my husband and brother. I’m from Quincy and somehow had never been here before! The food was tasty, large portions, the drinks were good, service was fast and friendly. We sat in the bar area and loved that they had the volume on for the Bruins game. Got the fish and chips, chicken piccata, and blackened sampler - recommend all 3! We’ll be back. Good local spot.
Food was excellent. I got the chicken asiago, which was a special, and I was very pleased. I enjoyed the atmosphere and interior as well. Service was adequate. I would recommend if your in the Quincy area
I love the Fox & Hound , I have been going here for many years, I have brought clients here, I have my annual Xmas dinner and grab here every year the first week in December. This year I was very disappointed- there were 9 of us , we sat in front of the fireplace, food was great, service was great however, what was bothersome while we were dining we were entertained by a mouse or mice running around from the high tops to the bar area and back and forth. I get it , it’s that time of year , but what bothered me was how unapologetic the waitress was when we mentioned it to her , she shook her head then came back and said I texted the owner. Maybe, a free dessert would have been nice or a free drink , just bothered me after being being a customer over 15 years that the issue wasn’t addressed!
